Ripple Tank

Ripple Tank is a large projection device paired with a wave generating table.

Visitors can press three independent buttons labeled NW, NE, and S, and generate waves that travel in the corresponding directions. The waves created by users travel across a shallow circular tank to interact with an island model placed in the middle of the tank.

Guests can choose from one of four Hawaiian island configurations to place in the tanks orienting them via an indexing pocket recessed in the center of the tank.

The action generated on the table is then projected onto a large vertical screen thereby displaying vertically what happens horizontally. Designed in collaboration with Gyroscope Inc.
