A Cleaner, Greener Grid Ball Machine was designed and fabricated for Tucson Electric Power and the University of Arizona. The goal of this machine is to show the green energy gathered from TEP’s wind and solar farms that powers the University of Arizona’s main campus. The ball machine communicates this message by showcasing large and small rotating wind turbines, solar panels, and batteries. Visitors can turn a knob and release balls that have gathered in the batteries to power parts of the campus. Balls flow down the tracks through and around iconic UArizona landmarks such as the Stevie Eller Dance Theather, Old Main, Arizona Stadium, and Main Gate Square.
The ball machine is displayed on the UArizona campus and will move to different locations to allow as many people to engage with the machine as possible.
