Foley Studios are isolated booths that allow visitors to experiment with recreating the Foley sound effects of popular movie clips using a variety of everyday objects. These sound effects can be recorded for playback to hear how dramatically soundtracks affect the experience for the movie viewer. Visitors interact by recreating the sounds of a short film clip using the same props employed by Foley Artists. The booth in which they work has wall-to-wall acoustic foam and non-parallel walls to reduce sound. It is the same type of room used on loud movie sets to record voice overs and sound effects. There are two microphones located in each exhibit. One centered above the prop desk, and one centered on the base plate of the prop desk. The hardwood floors give visitors the chance to create the sounds of footsteps.
