The Pulse Tower is a large vertical LED display consisting of a group of 6x 50mm tubes that span the 10.5 meters from the center of the broadcast station to a hanging fixture.
Visitors interact with the exhibit by placing their hands onto brass electrodes located at each of the broadcast center consoles. The visitor will feel slight tactile feedback that is mirrored by the animation of their tube, each responding to the visitor’s heartbeat.
Upon removing their hands, the heartbeat persists at the same beat but fades into the background animation over several beats.
When a tube on the Pulse Tower is not displaying a heartbeat, it is illuminated with a color that changes hue over time.
