Earlier this week a group of students from Acacia Elementary came to Creative Machines for a field trip. The kids had a fun filled morning testing out exhibits and learning about our fabrication processes. The day began with a tour of the exhibits that are currently being fabricated for MOXI, The Wolf Museum of Exploration + Innovation. Director of Exhibits, Ty Augsburger, and Electronics Department Manager, David Irving, demonstrated a number of exhibits for the students including Ring Launcher, Hangtime, Wind Column, Walk Leap Jump, White Water, Handprint Globe, Light Patterns, Mindball, and Magnetic Island. The students were then lead on a tour of our facilities by Joe O’Connell, President of Creative Machines which featured a sneak peak at an upcoming public art installation that we are fabricating for Houston, Texas. On their last stop, students walked through the ball machine building where Ball Machine Production Manager, Mat Petersen, introduced the students to our current ball machine project, The Sound Machine and explained more about the devices and track sequences that construct the ball’s path.
Overall, it was a very successful field trip and we look forward to hosting similar ones in the future! #gallery-9 { margin: auto; } #gallery-9 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-9 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-9 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
