Lithoglyphs at the University of Arizona!

We recently completed Lithoglyphs, a series of 200 playful inlays for the University of Arizona based on regional icons and imagery. Many of the inlays are very recognizable like a hiker, bobcat, javelina, and mountain lion. However, there are some more complex designs that we hope will engage visitors further, asking them to stop and explore the inlays. We are continuously looking for new ways to engage the public. This project allowed us to explore new ways of marrying art and the surrounding environment.

Lithoglyphs was a collaborative effort between Creative Machines and the University of Arizona. Specific inlays were sponsored by donors and we worked with faculty and staff members to brainstorm and vote on designs.

UA News recently released an article regarding the installation with more information about the building and fundraising efforts for the project. The article can be found here. #gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 33%; } #gallery-1 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-1 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
